| Unless your goal is to do more
swimming than surfing, you need to get yourself a surf leash!
It seems pretty obvious, but
surfboard leashes
will keep you enjoying your session by keeping your board close at all times.
Why would anyone surf without one then? Most do because they hate feeling
tangled, and they would rather take the risk of swimming after their board.
With this in mind we highly
recommend this surf leash which uses a double hinge technology at both the board, and
your ankle. This way, whatever way you fall, your leash will do the work to
straighten itself out and prevent you from feeling drug under, or tangled. Catch
a big wave, and within seconds you will be riding another.
Please note that surfboard leashes do
stretch over time. The general rule is to buy a leash for the exact size of
board you have so that you dont have extra floating in the water or dragging
behind you. (I.e.: 8ft board = 8ft leash, or a 9ft board = 9ft leash)
By
purchasing a surf leash as long as your board, you will have the ability to nose
ride. If the length of your board falls in between leash lengths you will need
to ask yourself a few questions.
- Do I want to nose ride on this board? (If
the answer is yes, go for a longer leash. Example: Board length 86, wants to
nose ride, = buy a 9ft leash).
- Do I know that I will never nose ride on my
board? (If the answer is yes, you can go with a smaller leash. Example: Board
length 86, no nose riding, = buy an 8ft leash.)
